Taiji Basics – Ian Sinclair is renowned for his ability to translating Chinese mysticism for people who did not grow up with (ancient) Chinese philosophy. The Taiji principles are easy to understand and deepen through physical principles and knowledge of one’s own body. Playful exercises lead to “aha” moments.
Taiji Partner Exercises – Your new understanding and feeling for the basics are tested with a partner: Can the light push knock me off balance, or can I neutralize gently? The key to this training is mutual respect and care for your partner’s progress and safety. It can lead to extraordinary skill and awareness.
Taiji Form – Explore the fundamental principles that are found in all traditional taiji routines. Learn the similarities and differences of different styles of taiji.
More – If there is interest and time, Ian will introduce us to further Wushu styles and internal martial arts, as well as the health-promoting aspects of Taiji.
Language – The workshop will be held primarily in English. However, Ian also speaks a little German. One of his students, who is a Taiji teacher at the BZ Nuremberg, will translate if necessary.
The Canadian Martial Arts Master Ian Sinclair demonstrates a fascinatingly wide spectrum of Taiji, Qigong, Wushu knowledge and more. He has been practicing and teaching for over 40 years worldwide—in person and online—and is well known for his new pedagogical approach to making strongly traditional Taiji entertaining and accessible for Westerners. He has also served as the president of the Canadian Taijiquan Federation. He prefers to be addressed by his name, “Ian”, rather than formal titles.
For beginners and advanced learners.
This workshop can be credited as Tai Chi training.
